mPortal is looking for a Philadelphia-based Mobile Application Architect with excellent client-facing skills.  Reporting to mPortal’s VP of Strategic Accounts, the Mobile Application Architect will oversee a team of developers based at mPortal’s headquarters in McLean, VA, and its off-shore development center in Bangalore, India.  This individual will also assist in technical sales activities.

The candidate should have a firm understanding of mobile smart phone development platforms, including iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android, and Windows Mobile.  The individual should be proficient in developing applications on at least two of those platforms.  The individual should be comfortable working in a distributed environment, and working with off-shore development teams.

The Mobile Application Architect will be responsible for designing, managing the end-to-end development cycle and, as necessary, developing mobile solutions for mPortal’s customers.  The Mobile Application architect should thrive in a creative, idea-driven culture with a deep desire to produce groundbreaking work.  The individual must also be experienced and comfortable with working with clients, as this role will involve working directly with the customer, working on-site at the customer premises.

Experience Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (advanced degree a plus), have worked for a big consulting or systems integration company, have significant technical experience in previous mobile projects and have a proven track record for leading or supporting technical sales activities.

Key expectations include:

• 8+ years of Java, Objective-C, or C# development.
• 4+ years’ experience working with iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android, or Windows Mobile platforms.
• 3+ years of experience working for a big Consulting or Systems Integration company (ex. Accenture, CSC, PWC, IBM, Sun)
• Good understanding and knowledge about Mobile Application development and experience working with wireless carriers and/or cable operators
• Proven track-record working with off-shore development teams and delivery
• Experience in working as a sales engineer a plus, but not required
• Ability to effectively present information to team members and management
• Excellent team building, people and management skills
• Exceptional organization skills & attention to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Must demonstrate a hands-on approach, attention to detail and results orientation
