Senior Mobile Application Developer

Description:

mPortal is looking for a Philadelphia-based Senior Mobile Application Developer.  Reporting to mPortal’s Director of Technology, the Senior Mobile Application Developer will work with a team of developers based in mPortal’s headquarters in McLean, VA, and its off-shore development center in Bangalore, India.  

This individual should have a firm understanding of the Android development platform.  The successful candidate  should also be familiar with mobile smart phone development platforms, including iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Flash Lite, Java ME, BREW, or Windows Mobile and be comfortable working in a distributed environment, especially working with off-shore development teams.  

The Senior Mobile Application Developer will be responsible for driving the architecture of multiple Android development initiatives.  This individual will also be responsible for building proof-of-concept applications across multiple device platforms (including Android) for mPortal’s various customers. This individual should thrive in a creative, idea-driven culture and have a deep desire to produce groundbreaking work.

Key Job responsibilities include the following items:

  • Build project plans, determining the appropriate project lifecycle model (waterfall, RAD, etc.) based on the delivery requirements of our Customer.
  • Coordinate all aspects of project delivery along with the mPortal functional teams, vendors, partners and our Customer.
  • Develop Statement of Work documents for associated projects and work with internal teams for inputs and required approvals.  The Mobile Project Manager will also work with our Customer during the delivery and approval processes of the document.
  • Build, maintain and communicate an overall activities plan for each project, while maintaining open communication between our Customer, associated vendors and mPortal- internal teams.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key Customer contacts for the purpose of execution and delivery of existing projects, initiation of new projects and for overall long-term account relationship management and development.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 1 year of Android development experience.
  • 4+ years of Java, Objective-C, or C# development.
  • 4+ years experience working with iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Flash Lite, Java ME, BREW, or Windows Mobile platforms.
  • Proven track record working with off-shore development teams and delivery.
  • Ability to effectively present information to team members and management.
  • Exceptional organization skills & attention to detail.
  • Must be self-starter, proactive and willing to learn & grow with the business.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must demonstrate a hands-on approach, attention to detail and results orientation.
  • Experience working with wireless carriers and/or cable operators a plus.
